HFM user:

What is some of the most important patch information you have learned about recently?

Chris Barbieri:

I was reading through some patch update information on Oracle’s site and saw this. We’ve discussed it before, but I think it’s important to communicate this periodically.

According to this document:

http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/lifetime-support-middleware-069163.pdf

HFM 11.1.2.* premier support ends December 2020, though customers can purchase extended support on 11.1.2.4 through December 2021.

When you “read between the lines”, by combining the various documents, you will see that

  • HFM releases prior to 11.1.2.4.206 will no longer get patched.
  • HFM 11.1.2.3.702, which was released in April 2016, is no longer supported, nor are any releases prior to 11.1.2.4 supported.
  • HFM 11.1.2.4.206, which was released in November 2017, will be patched (patch set exceptions will be created as needed) through November 2018. It is not known whether Oracle will release another PSU, such as .207, for HFM 11.1.2.4, but if they do, we should see it around the middle of 2018. Given that premier support ends in December 2020, it is likely we will see a few more PSUs on 11.1.2.4 in 2018 - 2019.

This link to Oracle Enterprise Performance Management 11g Grace Periods for Error Correction (Doc ID 1590676.1) reinforces what I said in terms of timing of the patches. Here is a screenshot for just Hyperion Financial Management:
